This training provides an overview of how to manage requirements with IBM DOORS Next 7.03. The training is intended for IBM DOORS NEXT 7.03 users and super users.

Content

  • Requirements creation - how to create requirements and requirement specifications (modules), including import of existing requirements from MS Word and MS Excel and including using the built-in diagram tool

  • Requirements traceability – how to trace between requirements, including ways of adding links between artifacts

  • Requirement views – how to apply filters to present requirement subsets for various purposes, including the use of shared and private views, the use of views for requirements export and requirements roundtrip via Excel

  • Report generation – how to use the built-in Report Builder to produce reports and support analysis

  • Requirements Review – how to organize and deliver reviews by use of the built-in Review functionality

  • Widgets and dashboards – how to create a personalized dashboard with relevant widgets

  • Working with configurations – how to use components, streams, baselines, and change sets

    • components, streams, baselines

  • DOORS Next configuration, including but not limited to
    • artifact types, attribute types, data types, link types and link constraints

  • How to define and implement a policy for unique referencing between requirement artifacts by use of Unique Resource Identifiers (URIs)

  • How to setup traceability between project areas

  • How to build custom reports using the tool-internal report generator Report Builder

AI-Powered Requirements Management

Unlocking the Potential of Engineers with Generative AI.

The training is intended for requirements engineers, analysts, and system engineers working with IBM DOORS Next or other requirements management systems. The course is tailored to DOORS Next, but methods and skills are transferable to any repository (Jama, Polarion, Excel, even Word).

  • How Generative AI (ChatGPT, Copilot, etc.) can improve the quality, clarity, and consistency of requirements across the lifecycle

  • Prompting techniques tailored to requirements quality (INCOSE, ISO, Agile/SAFe)

  • Applying AI inside DOORS Next and in external workflows (copy-pasting artifacts, extracting modules, experimenting with AI-powered rewriting, analyzing, and test generation)

  • Hands-on practice with DOORS Next-like artifacts, using AI feedback

  • Advanced integrations (widgets, plugins like AI Analyzer, AI Writer, AI Split and Merge, AI Guiding, AI Test Case Generator) that bring AI directly into the RM toolchain
